Becki-Lyn

Golden Retriever Smiling

Hi, my name is Becki-Lyn, friends call me Granny and Smiley. My dad calls me Boo. I am a Golden Retriever. I like morning walk-a-bouts, hiking, swimming, collecting then shredding pine cones and following the rest of the pack around running as fast as we can even when we have no idea of where we’re going or what we are chasing!

I am the oldest kid in the pack and have traveled the most. Mom was married to my first dad when she got me. We lived in South Florida then and they had my brother, another Golden Retriever named Beezer. Mom wanted a girl (me)! I was just a tiny kid then and when mom brought me home. She about “stroked out” when I dove right into the big heart shaped pond we had, then Beezer followed me in to boot. Beezer and I loved to take a morning swim in the pond everyday after that :)

I was under a year old when mom said she and my then dad were getting what humans call a divorce. I was very sad when she left to get her own apartment but she promised she would be back for us. She did come back for us. She said we were all that she asked for in that divorce thing. I moved in with mom first and Beezer followed a few months later.

Mom got a job at an animal hospital/animal sanctuary. I loved to help her foster little kittens. I would make sure they didn’t get into too much trouble by using my nose to gently keep them in a safe area. I gave them lots of licks and kisses! I must admit that milk on their little lips after they were done with their bottle was quite tasty :)

Mom met my new dad while walking dogs at the animal sanctuary where she worked. We left Florida and mom married dad in Upstate New York where she grew up. Then the three of us went on a camping honeymoon in the mountains in New Hampshire.

We then moved to Montana where I heard my dad tell mom he has always wanted to live. So off we went. What an adventure, mom, dad (who did all of the driving), Ashley & Louie (kitty’s), a litterbox and myself!

I love Montana, we’ve been hiking and swimming in the lakes. I really enjoy my morning walk-a-bouts and eating fresh raspberries from our bushes. Rolling in the dirt is especially fun and even more fun after mom has just given us a bath :)

I have battled cancer, have had several operations and am proud to be a “cancer survivor”. My doctor, Dr. Petersen, a great man who recently passed away, was a saint as mom says and a hero to all the animals that crossed his path. I too agree. Not too long ago my picture was in the Smiling Dog section of The Bark Magazine, one of moms favorite reads.
